Putting a canvas to good use in your decor, professional tip no. 2

To embellish your interior or complete your collection of paintings already hanging on the wall, it is important to choose the right place for your painting. And this depends first of all on the size of your work... to find a wall of suitable size.

Contrary to popular belief, a large canvas does not necessarily need a huge wall.

For small canvases, it is true that they are not usually allowed to get lost on a large wall. Unless you are planning to create a collection of small formats there. It will be easier to find a place for it on a small wall: above a chest of drawers, a wall return, between a window and a door or between a door frame and a bookcase.

For a large canvas, there are three possibilities:

1) You can choose to keep a lot of wall space visible around the work. The larger the work, the larger the wall you will need. The work should be positioned in the centre of the wall and the centre of the canvas at a level that is comfortable for the viewer, usually at eye level. This arrangement makes the work unique and draws attention to it.

2) Alternatively, you may choose to leave little visible wall space around the work. If this space is sufficiently proportional around the edge, it will give the effect of a natural frame. At OUT SIDE ART, this is often the case with our "small" ones ;) Maxi-formats, which are approximately 2.5 metres wide and 1.4 metres high.

3) For even larger canvases - at OUT SIDE ART these are our pure Maxi-formats which are more than 4 metres long! It is possible to hang them on the wall. To do this, you must be careful not to encroach on door frames, for example, as this would give a poor finish to the hanging and the overall effect would be much less aesthetic. You can cover the wall perfectly from the ceiling downwards. This will create an underpinning effect that will reveal the power of your new acquisition.
