Making the most of a canvas in your home decor, professional tip no. 1
Art simply to decorate or to add to your collection, it is not so easy to create harmony between the walls, the decor and your new painting. It is not so easy to highlight a work of art, even if sometimes chance makes things right.
1. Framing
For very colourful contemporary works, it is preferable to opt for a neutral frame, black or dark wood, white or light wood for a rather light canvas.
If you are a lover of old portraits, landscapes or classic still lifes, we recommend frames that have been worked on, whether they are of the renaissance type with linear profiles, baroque or XIXth century with a consequent work of wood sculpture. Beautiful plaster reproductions give an effect just as beautiful as the wood. You will find this type of frame new in a decoration shop or at a framer's (depending on your budget), but also a wide range of second-hand frames in flea markets and antique shops.
The painting will benefit from being placed under glass for optimal conservation over time.
At OUT SIDE ART, we specialise in Maxi-formats. For large works, the frame, or the frequently used American box, is not necessary. The work stands on its own. Furthermore, at OUT SIDE ART, the stretchers on which the painted canvases are stretched are very thick to give the painting depth and to highlight it naturally.
