"I had the idea for this painting during one of my trips to New York, when I wanted a hot dog in the middle of the afternoon while passing a street vendor. The sight of the sandwich literally triggered a desire to "eat" even though I wasn't particularly hungry...

So this is the story of this very innocuous moment which, several years later, resurfaced and gave me the inspiration for “HotGourmandise”.

"HotGourmandise" thus illustrates the success of "junk food", fast food, those sponge sandwiches that we devour at any time of the day. It also echoes a society hungry for instant consumption; consuming, consuming without ever reaching the feeling of satiety ... like a hole that we can never fill.

Who better than Homer Simpson could embody this deadly bulimia?
